Short version: Leaf collects nothing about you. Your files and scans stay on your phone.
What Leaf collects
Nothing. Leaf has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. We (Desert Apps) don't receive any information about you, your phone or how you use the app.
Your files and scans
PDFs you open, scans you make, the text recognized from them and the files you export stay on your phone. Leaf does not upload them anywhere. Leaf itself makes no network connections and has no network permission (it requests no Android permissions at all): files are opened through Android's own file picker, and the camera is used by Google's scanner screen, only while you scan.
Scanning and text recognition
The document scanner and the text recognition use Google ML Kit, a component of Google Play services on your phone. They run on the device. Google Play services may download the scanner and text models the first time you use them, which is why an internet connection is needed once. That download, and anything else Google Play services does, is Google's component working under Google's own terms and privacy policy, not Leaf: Leaf does not see it, control it or send any of your content.
Sharing
When you share, print or save a file, you choose where it goes (an app, a printer or a folder). That is your decision, and what happens next is governed by the app or service you chose.
Website
This website is a plain page for downloading the app. Like most websites, its host may keep standard server logs (for example the address and time of a visit). Leaf itself, the app, has no logs, analytics or tracking.
Deleting your data
Everything Leaf stores is on your phone. Delete a scan or a document from the app, or uninstall Leaf to remove all of its data. Because Leaf holds no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
Leaf collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
